Buenos Aires public radio privatization tender

Overview

The Buenos Aires city government has progressed with its plan to privatize the management of two public radio stations, AM 1110 (Radio de la Ciudad) and FM 92.7 (La 2x4), through a five-year concession process.

Following a failed attempt in May where no offers were received for the stations as a bundle, the administration relaunched the tender with a strategic adjustment. The new process separated the two stations into individual items, allowing companies to bid for a single station or both. The base monthly fee for each station was set at 1.53 million pesos.

By late September, the bidding process advanced with three companies submitting proposals for each station: Green Umbrella Producciones SAS, Kligger SRL, and Rodolfo Héctor Herrera. For AM 1110, Green Umbrella offered 2.5 million pesos monthly, while Kligger SRL and Rodolfo Héctor Herrera offered 1.53 million and 1.6 million pesos, respectively. For FM 92.7, both Green Umbrella and Herrera submitted bids of 2.5 million pesos, while Kligger SRL offered the base amount of 1.53 million pesos. The winning bidder will manage administration, operation, and programming in co-production with the city, though the concession excludes equipment and personnel.
