In late July 2026, Health Minister Katya Ivkova reaffirmed the government's commitment to the National Children’s Hospital, noting that the Health Investment Company already held more than €46 million and that no additional funding was needed for the year. The project, however, remained stalled after a design‑supervision appeal was taken to the Supreme Administrative Court, prompting criticism from opposition parties over the budget.

A week later, Ivkova turned her attention to an existing facility, ordering an inspection of the Prof. Dr. Paraskov Stoyanov Hospital in Lovech. The visit revealed severe under‑utilisation—about 30 % capacity—and serious financial and managerial problems, including a deteriorated urology floor. Ivkova called for improved management and cooperation to stabilise the hospital.
