In late July 2026, Bulgarian authorities responded to public outcry over a sign at Burgas’s Camping Cherno More beach that prohibited visitors from bringing food, drinks and umbrellas. After the sign sparked backlash on social media, the Ministry of Tourism inspected the site, required the concessionaire to clarify the wording, and the sign was removed, highlighting tensions between tourist operators’ policies and visitor expectations.

The following day, a coordinated inspection by the Ministry of Tourism, consumer protection, food safety, health and police agencies targeted children’s camps along the Black Sea. At a private camp in Ravda, officials found serious safety breaches—including expired food, faulty wiring and deteriorated structures—prompting the immediate closure of the facility and the withdrawal of 17 children. Across the summer season, inspectors examined 18 camps, identifying multiple violations and issuing corrective orders, underscoring a broader effort by Bulgarian authorities to enforce safety standards in tourist venues.
