Bulgaria-US economic and defense cooperation

Bulgaria has initiated a series of diplomatic and economic efforts to strengthen strategic ties with the United States, focusing on high-technology and defense sectors. A business delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Alexander Pulev traveled to Washington, D.C., to engage with major American corporations such as Lockheed Martin, SpaceX, and Boeing Defense. The mission aimed to foster technological transfer and integrate Bulgarian companies into international production chains.

Following these efforts, Bulgaria and the United States formalized a partnership in artificial intelligence through a joint declaration involving 54 countries. This initiative is designed to promote innovation, secure digital infrastructure, and reliable supply chains. Discussions also expanded to include cooperation in space and satellite technologies, as well as the implementation of the F-16 Block 70 fighter jet program. Bulgaria has positioned itself as a strategic logistics and energy hub in the Black Sea region to support these growing defense and high-tech industrial partnerships.
