Bulgarian MECH party presidential campaign

The political party ‘Morality, Unity, Honor’ (MECH) has begun its campaign for the Bulgarian presidential elections scheduled for October 25, 2026. The party officially nominated Radostin Vasilev, a lawyer and former Minister of Sport, as its presidential candidate, with Krassimir Manov as the vice presidential candidate.

Shortly after the nomination, Kiril Veselinski, who served as the head of the party’s parliamentary group in the 51st National Assembly, announced his resignation from both the leadership and membership of MECH. Veselinski stated his departure followed deep consideration, though he maintained his commitment to opposing corruption in Bulgaria. Radostin Vasilev responded to the resignation by thanking Veselinski for his service.

Veselinski further clarified that he is leaving the party with a “clean heart and conscience.” He expressed a continued vow to fight for democracy and integrity while opposing what he described as the “Peevski-Borisov robbery model.” His departure follows internal controversies within MECH regarding the handling of deputy expenses and parliamentary allowances.
