Burkina Faso tomato processing industrialization
Overview
The Agency for the Promotion of Community Entrepreneurship (APEC) is advancing agricultural industrialization in Burkina Faso through community-driven financing initiatives.
In early September 2026, APEC reached a milestone in Tenkodogo with the installation of machinery at a second tomato processing plant in Pédogo. The facility, which includes industrial platforms and storage warehouses, was scheduled for equipment testing starting around September 15, 2026.
Concurrently, the Société burkinabè de tomates (SOBTO) factory in Bobo-Dioulasso reported operating at full capacity. APEC Director General Karim Traoré confirmed that the plant maintains significant stocks of ‘A’diaa tomato paste’ and other packaged products, demonstrating the operational success of the popular shareholding model.
