Caiman rescue in Saquarema

Overview

In Saquarema, environmental guard agents rescued a female yellow-spotted caiman from a storm drain in the Jaconé neighborhood. The reptile, weighing approximately 46 kg and measuring 2.30 meters, had been under monitoring for several days following resident reports.

To ensure public safety, authorities isolated the street and used PVC pipes to guide the animal to a retrieval point. The four-hour operation concluded with the caiman being evaluated as healthy and subsequently returned to its natural habitat.
