Calabria month-long cultural celebrations

In mid‑July 2026 the Calabria region announced that the Naturium project would launch a month‑long regional food celebration, part of a broader effort to attract visitors through themed events.

From 4 to 16 August 2026 the region inaugurated the “Month of the Riace Bronzes”, a cultural programme featuring concerts, performances, installations and guided tours across the five provinces, under the banner “I Bronzi di Riace – La Calabria del Mito”. The festival marks the 54th anniversary of the discovery of the famous Greek bronze statues and promotes Calabria’s Magna Grecia heritage.

Additional August activities were detailed on 1 August. The town of Lago hosted “Agosto Piccante 2026”, a food‑fair and pepper fair running 1‑26 August with music concerts and theatrical shows. In Montepaone, the Naturium‑backed “Mese della Calabria” highlighted local artisanal products, gastronomy and entrepreneurship. Regional tourism officials emphasized that the coordinated festivals aim to strengthen Calabria’s image, destagionalise tourist flows and generate economic growth for local communities.

Together, these month‑long cultural and culinary festivals illustrate Calabria’s strategy of using heritage‑focused events to boost tourism and showcase regional identity.
