Calrec audio technology and broadcast implementation
Overview
Calrec is advancing its software-defined audio ecosystem, specifically through enhancements to its ImPulseV DSP software. These developments, aligned with the European Broadcasting Union’s Dynamic Media Facility project, include Media eXchange Layer support to allow containerized software from various vendors to share memory on a single server stack. The ImPulseV engine supports immersive audio and can be deployed on-premises, in the cloud, or via hybrid models.
Building on these technological advancements, Cloudbass is utilizing Calrec Argo M consoles to expand its outside broadcast fleet. To support remote production for a major UK sports broadcaster, Cloudbass is deploying two new mobile units, OB20 and OB21. These units integrate Calrec ImPulse1 cores and RP1 remote production audio processing engines within an IP-based infrastructure following the SMPTE 2110 standard.
