Campania Region audiovisual sector expansion

At the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, the Campania Region announced a strategic expansion of its audiovisual sector. Regional Councilor for Culture Onofrio Cutaia and representatives from the Film Commission Regione Campania detailed new initiatives to support independent productions, auteur cinema, and talent training.

The regional strategy involves a 20% increase in resources and the introduction of new international calls for applications. Highlighted upcoming productions include the Netflix series ‘Minerva – La Scuola’, new seasons of ‘Mare Fuori’, and various films such as ‘Piedone – uno sbirro a Napoli’ and biopics dedicated to Gigi D’Alessio and Pino Daniele.

Beyond the film industry, the regional government has introduced broader strategic initiatives in tourism and healthcare. The ‘Treni Storici Campania’ program has been launched with 2.7 million euros allocated for 35 historical train journeys between September and December, utilizing restored vintage carriages to connect cultural sites such as Pompeii and Paestum.

In the healthcare sector, officials reported progress on PNRR targets, including the activation of 31 Community Hospitals and 154 Community Houses. Furthermore, 5 million euros have been designated for social and healthcare interventions, targeting addiction services in Naples, assistance for minors with autism in Caserta, and initiatives to combat elderly isolation in inland regions.
