Campania regional economic development initiatives

The Campania region has introduced several strategic programs to stimulate economic growth through cultural heritage and industrial investment.

Initial efforts focused on leveraging local craftsmanship and tourism. The ‘Economia della bellezza’ project in Paestum aims to use cultural and natural heritage for sustainable development, specifically utilizing the Via Appia as an economic backbone. Additionally, the ‘Jewels of Campania’ event was organized to support the local gold district by connecting regional production companies with international buyers.

Subsequent developments include the launch of ‘Campania Investe – Il Programma per le Filiere Produttive,’ a 346 million euro investment program. This initiative seeks to trigger over 500 million euros in total regional investments by focusing on innovation, technological transition, and environmental sustainability. A specific component, ‘Campania Compete,’ allocates 115 million euros to sectors such as shipbuilding, aerospace, and fashion. Furthermore, proposals have been made to create an integrated Mediterranean logistics platform to connect maritime infrastructure in Naples, Salerno, and Castellammare di Stabia with inland interports to establish the region as a Mediterranean hub.
