Camuzzi Gas disputes in Argentine Patagonia

In late July, municipal authorities in Tolhuin and Gobernador Gregores claimed that Camuzzi Gas del Sur had removed gas meters from households during a polar cold snap and issued double bills in the same month, leaving vulnerable residents without heat and facing unexpected costs. Local officials criticised the company's reliance on digital notices that many users could not receive and demanded an end to the practices.

A week later, Camuzzi responded by stating that only twelve customers in Tolhuin had their service suspended for non‑payment, after nine prior notices and an average debt equivalent to about a year’s consumption. The company highlighted existing assistance schemes for vulnerable users. At the same time, Camuzzi inaugurated a new pressure‑regulator station in Cipolletti, expanding pipeline capacity and aiming to improve reliability for new residential, industrial, and urban developments.

The two snapshots illustrate a shift from community accusations of service disruption and billing problems toward the company's defensive clarification of the outage scope and an investment in infrastructure to bolster supply in the region.
