Capital punishment implementation in Iran

Overview

The Iranian judiciary has continued the application of capital punishment across various facilities. In late July, Ishaq Sistani, a truck driver convicted of drug-related offenses, was executed at Ferdows Prison. During this period, one death sentence for a murder conviction in Shiraz was suspended after the victim’s mother granted forgiveness.

By mid-August, reports indicated further executions in Ardabil and Shirvan prisons. In Ardabil, three individuals were executed following murder convictions. In Shirvan, two individuals, Mohammad Imani and Asad Alijaniniz, were also executed. These reports regarding the Shirvan and Ardabil incidents were provided by the Iran Human Rights organization.
