Carabinieri drug and ammunition seizure in Italy

Overview

As part of the ‘Continuum Bellum IV’ operation, Italian Carabinieri forces conducted searches in the Monti Lattari mountains near Gragnano and the border of Pimonte. Using assistance from the ‘Calabria’ Heliported Squadron, authorities located waterproof plastic containers buried in the forested area of Località Franche di Sotto.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 74 kilograms of dried marijuana, which investigators estimated to have a retail value of nearly one million euros. In addition to the narcotics, officials recovered 41 rounds of various ammunition, including 18 cartridges compatible with AK-47 rifles, as well as balaclavas and weapon maintenance kits.

Investigators have linked the cache to the Di Martino clan and are working to dismantle the criminal network using the area for clandestine storage.
