Carabinieri institutional activities and leadership

Overview

General Salvatore Luongo, Commander General of the Carabinieri, has conducted several high-profile engagements involving institutional support and professional training.

In Naples, General Luongo met with the family of Appuntato Antonio Roberto Centonze to express the institution’s support following the officer’s death from illness. This period also saw a leadership transition at the Ogaden Interregional Carabinieri Command, where General Rosario Castello succeeded General Massimo Masciulli.

Later, General Luongo visited the Comunità Incontro in Amelia during a training session for 200 Carabinieri trainees. This visit is part of an ongoing collaboration since 2023 aimed at providing trainees with firsthand accounts of addiction recovery. During the event, General Luongo emphasized that the uniform should represent “social reassurance and listening to citizens,” particularly in difficult circumstances such as addiction.
