Caribbean and Latin American tourism development
Overview
Tourism sectors across the Caribbean and Latin America are implementing various initiatives to enhance service standards, professional training, and international market presence.
In the Caribbean, efforts include the “Descubre Sosúa” event in the Dominican Republic to discuss short-term rentals and local development, alongside the reactivation of the Dominican Association of Tourism Press branch in Miami. Aruba has also expanded its Aruba Certification Program through a new agreement between the Aruba Tourism Authority and the Aruba Excellence Foundation to modernize hospitality training.
In Mexico and Colombia, strategic growth measures are also underway. Mexico’s Secretariat of Tourism conducted a caravan in Phoenix, Arizona, to strengthen ties with tour operators and promote medical tourism. Meanwhile, in Dosquebradas, Colombia, local authorities and SENA completed a training program for entrepreneurs, including tour guides and coffee producers, to improve the local tourism value chain.
