Carl Thomas and Case VERZUZ battle

Overview

R&B singers Carl Thomas and Case competed in a VERZUZ battle on October 22 at Apple Music Studios in Los Angeles. The event was broadcast via Apple Music, Complex, and official VERZUZ channels.

The competition featured nostalgic hits from both artists, including Case’s ‘Not Your Friend’ and Carl Thomas’s ‘Can’t Imagine.’ The performances included guest appearances: Case was joined by RL for ‘The Best Man I Can Be,’ while Carl Thomas performed ‘The World Is Filled…’ with guest artist Too Short.

Reflecting on the event, Thomas noted that he views such musical competitions as “a win for Black music as a whole rather than a strict competition.”
