Castilla-La Mancha agricultural subsidy programs

Overview

The regional government of Castilla-La Mancha has implemented various subsidy programs to support the agricultural sector and manage environmental risks.

In late August, the government announced a two-million-euro fund to assist farmers in protecting crops from rabbit overpopulation. These subsidies cover 70% of prevention costs, such as installing specialized mesh fencing or removing rabbit warrens, with a maximum grant of 10,150 euros per application.

By mid-September, the administration launched a separate initiative focused on forest fire prevention. This program allocates 360,000 euros to support controlled grazing, which uses livestock to reduce vegetation density in designated areas. This effort is part of the 2023-2027 Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan and is co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
