Catalan Parliament disciplinary actions

In mid‑July 2026 the Catalan Parliament’s Commission on the Statute of Deputies recommended that the parliamentary Board impose light sanctions on Aliança Catalana leader Silvia Orriols and Vox MP Joan Garriga for Islam‑phobic and defamatory remarks. The commission classified their conduct as a minor offence under article 7 of the code of conduct and listed possible penalties ranging from a public reprimand to fines of €600‑€12,000, also urging reforms to cover hate‑speech cases.

Two weeks later, the Mesa of the Catalan Parliament approved a public admonishment for both Orriols and Garriga. The reprimand, deemed a "very serious" breach of article 7, will be published in the Official Bulletin, read aloud at the next plenary session, and added to their parliamentary dossiers, with no monetary fine imposed. This decision follows earlier admonishments of other deputies, marking the culmination of the disciplinary process initiated earlier in the month.
