Overview

Public libraries in Catalonia are expanding their cultural programming and community engagement initiatives.

In Reus, the municipal library system announced its 2026-2027 schedule, which includes 32 reading clubs. The program features diverse offerings such as a long-term project focused on James Joyce’s ‘Ulysses’, a ‘Km0’ club for local authors, and an easy-reading club organized with the ExplainUp Association. The curriculum also integrates themes like music and feminism, alongside a virtual club for universal literature.

Additionally, the ‘bibliopiscines’ (library pools) initiative has expanded in Tàrrega to the Altet and Claravalls pools. Managed through the Germanes Güell Library, this program provides books, comics, and magazines at municipal swimming facilities to encourage reading during the summer months.
