Catamarca food safety and entrepreneurship training

Overview

The Municipality of the Capital in Catamarca has implemented various training programs focused on food safety and technical skills for local entrepreneurs.

In late August, the Technical Directorate of the Entrepreneurs' Kitchen launched free training sessions to help individuals obtain the Safe Food Handling Certificate. This initiative was designed to ensure that those involved in the preparation, storage, and commercialization of food possess the knowledge required to prevent foodborne illnesses.

By late September, the municipality expanded its support through a collaboration with the Catamarca Rural Extension Agency of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA). This partnership resulted in a practical workshop titled ‘Charcuterie and Sausages: Production and Good Handling Practices.’ Led by veterinarian Daniel Ortiz, the session provided small-scale producers with technical skills in meat product preparation, biosecurity standards, and temperature control to help them transition toward formal commercialization.
