Catholic Church activities in Spain

Religious activities in Spain have recently focused on infrastructure restoration and youth engagement. In Galicia, Monseñor García Cadiñanos presided over celebrations for the completed restoration of the Santa Rita church in Xuvia, a project costing nearly 59,000 euros. Further repairs were also noted at the parish of Nuestra Señora de los Desamparados in Piñeiros.

In Barcelona, the Tarraconense Episcopal Conference held its 264th meeting to discuss social, political, and economic complexities, alongside the implementation of the Synod on Synodality.

Youth-oriented events and brotherhood gatherings continue to play a significant role in religious life. The XXII Pilgrimage of Rocío Youth in Almonte drew approximately 3,000 participants from over 90 Rocío brotherhoods, an event noted for the presence of the Virgin of El Rocío during the Jubilee Year.

Future planning for generational renewal includes Cartagena hosting the XIV National Meeting of Young Brotherhood Members in October 2027, which is expected to attract nearly 2,000 participants. Additionally, Zamora has been designated as the host for the III National Congress of Brotherhoods and Cofradías of the Resurrection, scheduled for October 2028.
