CBSE Class 12 examinations in West Asia
Overview
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced plans to conduct Class 12 re-examinations for students in seven West Asian countries: Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. This measure follows the cancellation of regular board exams in the region due to ongoing conflict.
Initially, the board utilized a special assessment scheme to provide results for affected students. However, the new initiative allows candidates to sit for exams in 40 subjects—comprising 20 academic and 20 skill-based papers—to improve their scores. The marks obtained in these fresh examinations will replace previous results and be considered final.
By October 2026, the board confirmed that the examinations would be held from October 23 to October 28. Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bharadwaj noted that the board had previously notified a special evaluation plan in March to manage results for regular students in the region. Admit cards have been issued for the scheduled two-shift examination period.
