Mycology expert Jan Borovička observed that since 2014, there have been very few years characterized by truly abundant growth.

Biological factors contribute to the low yield, as the mycelium requires specific combinations of moisture and temperature to trigger the formation of fruiting bodies. Even following heavy thunderstorms, the preceding period of excessive dryness can prevent successful mushroom development.
