Central Java poverty alleviation and housing programs

Overview

The Central Java provincial government is executing multi-sectoral poverty alleviation and social welfare strategies. In Wonogiri Regency, the ‘Desa Dampingan’ (Assisted Village) program has distributed approximately Rp511 million in aid. This initiative, involving collaboration between the government, hospitals, and the private sector, provides basic necessities, sanitation projects, and productive economic capital for agriculture, livestock, and MSMEs.

Broadening this approach, the province is integrating infrastructure improvements with social welfare to address unfit housing (RTLH). Governor Ahmad Luthfi noted that the initiative aims to support families holistically by linking home repairs with education and employment opportunities.

Efforts to reduce the housing backlog have shown significant movement; the backlog decreased from 1,332,968 units at the start of 2025 to 1,058,454 units by the start of 2026. Funding for these comprehensive programs is sourced from the national budget, village funds, provincial and district budgets, corporate social responsibility, and Baznas.
