Central Java regional development and economic growth

Governor Ahmad Luthfi of Central Java has been recognized for regional development and economic management. Early reports highlight his receipt of a Special Achievement Award for pioneering programs in education and mobile healthcare services, alongside recognition for Bank Jateng’s digital innovation in supporting the regional economy.

During the 81st anniversary celebrations of Central Java and Indonesia’s Independence Day, Luthfi emphasized that development is a “collaborative effort” between the government and sectors such as farmers, laborers, and MSMEs. He reported that the region’s economic growth reached 5.80 percent in the first half of 2026, exceeding the national average of 5.45 percent. Investment realization was recorded at Rp59.94 trillion, consisting of Rp25.92 trillion in foreign investment, Rp22.62 trillion in domestic investment, and Rp11.40 trillion from MSMEs. Social indicators showed a decrease in unemployment to 4.24 percent and a poverty rate of 9.21 percent, supported by free education and integrated health services.

To further economic empowerment, the provincial government hosted an exhibition in Semarang featuring over 100 MSME tenants. Luthfi noted that the province’s nearly 4.8 million MSMEs serve as the “backbone of the local economy,” with the government providing guidance to nearly 200,000 MSMEs in the first quarter of 2026. Additionally, Luthfi led a coordination meeting with regional leaders and oversight agencies to strengthen government integrity and prevent corruption, stressing that strict adherence to oversight is necessary to ensure regional budgets benefit the public.
