CGEM economic development initiatives in Morocco
Overview
The Confédération Générale des Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM) has initiated several programs and strategic calls aimed at economic development and innovation in Morocco.
In the Oriental region, CGEM partnered with the Belgian development agency Enabel to launch the Maghrib Belgium Mentoring program. This initiative intends to support 100 entrepreneurs and project leaders by leveraging the expertise of the Moroccan diaspora in Belgium, with specific targets for gender inclusion.
Separately, during the ‘Entrepreneurs en mouvement’ forum in Casablanca, CGEM leadership called for a national economic shift. President Mehdi Tazi and Vice-President Mohamed Bachiri advocated for moving away from production-cost competitiveness toward a model driven by innovation, productivity, and high value-added activities, specifically highlighting the importance of artificial intelligence and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
