CHAEVI electric vehicle charging infrastructure expansion
Overview
CHAEVI has secured several roles within South Korean government-led electric vehicle (EV) initiatives. In early October, the company was selected by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment to pilot ‘Plug and Charge’ (PnC) services. This pilot involves implementing PnC technology on 30 public rapid charging stations to test automated authentication and payment stability using Hardware Security Module (HSM) chips.
By mid-October, CHAEVI was also designated as both an operator and a manufacturer for the 2026 EV Charging Facility Subsidy Program. The company qualified in four categories: rapid/medium-speed and slow charging facility operator, as well as rapid/medium-speed and slow charging facility manufacturer. This selection, which allows participation in the subsidy program through 2027, follows nine consecutive years of being selected as an operator.
