Changdeokgung Palace special cultural programs

Overview

The Changdeokgung Palace Management Office announced a special guided tour program running from October 20 to 31. The initiative, titled ‘The Living Space of the King and Queen, Entering the Inner Palace of Changdeokgung’, provides public access to the interior of Huijeongdang and Daejojeon. This marks the first time this year that Daejojeon, the queen’s living quarters, will be open to the public. The tour highlights a blend of traditional Korean architecture and modern Western influences, such as electric lamps and glass windows.

Following this, the Cultural Heritage Administration’s Royal Palaces and Sites Headquarters and the Korea Heritage Agency will host ‘Donggwol Dongrak’, an immersive night exploration program from November 10 to 15. This event connects Changdeokgung and Changgyeonggung palaces by opening the Yeongchunmun gate, which is typically closed to the public. The program features storytelling by performers, theatrical performances, and traditional Korean music, alongside opportunities for visitors to interact with actors reenacting royal life.
