The Chicago Cubs concluded their 2026 season with two victories against the Cincinnati Reds.

On September 19, the Cubs defeated the Reds 5-2, moving closer to a postseason berth with a magic number of 2. Key contributions included hits and an RBI from Seiya Suzuki, a tiebreaking home run by Michael Busch, and a ninth-inning home run by Dansby Swanson. Pitcher Matthew Boyd also ended a six-start winless streak during this game.

In the season finale, the Cubs secured a 9-1 victory over the Reds. The win followed a difficult outing for Cincinnati's starting pitcher, Rhett Lowder, who allowed five runs and six hits before exiting after three innings.
