Overview

Chihuahua is expanding its role in the artificial intelligence and electronics manufacturing sectors. The state has become a critical hub, supplying approximately half of the computer equipment and components used in U.S. AI data centers, with export values reaching roughly US$36 billion.

To support this industrial growth, regional efforts have focused on specialized education and international talent development. Locally, the Conalep technical school launched a Professional Technical Bachiller program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence to train students in machine learning, robotics, and cybersecurity.

This educational focus has expanded into international collaborations, such as the MCU x Pegatron Global Elite Talent Development Collaboration Program. Launched by the Chihuahua state government through the Secretariat of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE), the initiative provides international training opportunities in partnership with Pegatron Mexico and Taiwan’s Ming Chuan University (MCU).

In the program’s inaugural edition, two students, Luis Sebastián Ayala Mancinas and Derek Ángel Dick Madrigal, were selected to pursue four-year Industrial Engineering degrees conducted in English at MCU. The collaboration includes professional internships with Pegatron, offering the potential for full-time employment upon graduation. Jennifer Ma, Executive Director of MCU, noted that the program represents a significant step in strengthening ties between academia, industry, and international talent, marking the first time Mexican students have been admitted through this specific initiative.
