Child abduction in Ranchi

Overview

On September 24, a four-year-old child was abducted from the vicinity of the Ranchi railway station. Following the disappearance, a special investigation team was established under Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan.

Authorities utilized CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and human intelligence to track the child. Through inter-district coordination, police arrested one suspect near the Dhanbad railway station and four additional suspects in the Sahibganj area. The child was recovered safely in the Threepahar area of Sahibganj approximately 48 hours after the abduction.

Preliminary investigations indicate the involvement of an “inter-district kidnapping gang,” and police are currently questioning the five suspects to establish motives and identify further gang members.
