Child fatalities in rural Goiás

Overview

In August 2026, two separate incidents involving the accidental deaths of young children with autism were reported in the rural regions of Goiás, Brazil.

In Rio Verde, a five-year-old boy disappeared from a family property and was later found dead in a swine waste tank. Following a search involving drones and thermal cameras, his body was recovered by firefighters.

In Mineiros, a three-year-old boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder died after drowning in a dam. The child went missing while playing in a yard, and was located by his father after the family dog began barking.
