Children affected in Russia-Ukraine war

Overview

In July 2026, the OSCE released a report estimating that about 1.6 million Ukrainian children had been subjected to Russian militarization, highlighting the scale of the conflict’s impact on minors. By early August, UNICEF issued a separate appeal, condemning recent attacks that killed and injured children on both sides of the front line and urging all parties to respect international humanitarian law and protect civilians, especially children, from further harm.
