Argentine students from the Escuela Municipal de Natación competed in the Torneo Kids in Mercedes, highlighting municipal initiatives that use sport for inclusion. In Chile, Club Natal announced its roster for the Maule Regional Selections and noted that five swimmers were chosen for the state‑run Promesas Chile program, which offers technical and financial support to promising talent.

In early August, the 2026 Winter Swimming World Cup took place in El Calafate, Patagonia, attracting more than 300 athletes from 15 nations who swam in 0 °C‑3 °C water without wetsuits. The event, streamed worldwide, boosted local tourism and demonstrated strict safety protocols. It also served as a preparatory step for the 2028 Winter Swimming World Championship, reinforcing the region’s emerging role in extreme cold‑water sport and linking back to the earlier Chilean delegation’s participation.
