Chile Cuida program implementation in Biobío

Overview

The Chile Cuida National Support and Care System has begun distributing technical aids to families within the Biobío Region to support dependent individuals and their caregivers.

In Lota, the Ministry of Social Development and Family distributed 20 items, including wheelchairs, clinical beds, and anti-decubitus mattresses. Regional Minister Daniel Manchileo noted that the regional budget for the program has been increased to over 5,700 million pesos to support 4,966 dyads across 29 communes.

Following this, the program expanded its distribution in Penco, providing 89 technical aids. These included manual clinical beds, wheelchairs, anti-decubitus mattresses and cushions, portable toilets, canes, and orthopedic walkers. Local authorities stated these tools are intended to improve mobility and hygiene while alleviating the daily burden on families, specifically targeting women who perform much of the caregiving work.
