Chile-Peru economic and regional development

Overview

Regional development and economic cooperation between Peru and Chile have been highlighted through various social, energy, and industrial initiatives.

In Peru, the Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Sanitation established an agreement in Tacna to utilize canon resources for social housing via the Techo Propio program. This initiative aims to finance 100 Family Housing Bonds to assist citizens in building homes on their own land.

Simultaneously, Chile has advanced the “Energía Comunitaria Asociativa” project in the Los Lagos region, a community photovoltaic park funded jointly by the Ministry of Energy and Colbún to reduce electricity costs for approximately 200 families.

Building on these regional ties, officials and business leaders from both nations met at the XXI Meeting of the Chilean-Peruvian Business Council to discuss mining and energy cooperation. During these discussions, Peruvian Minister of Energy and Mines Guillermo Shinno outlined priorities for bilateral economic engagement and sustainable development.
