Overview

The Superintendencia del Medio Ambiente (SMA) has initiated several regulatory actions against industrial entities in Chile regarding chemical spills and safety compliance.

Following a nitric acid spill in Mejillones caused by a contractor’s truck overturning, the SMA demanded that ENAEX S.A. provide a comprehensive report. Additionally, a security report commissioned by ENAP identified potential catastrophe risks at its Maipú gas plant, noting a risk of explosion and significant thermal radiation zones.
