Chilean international doctoral scholarship programs

Chile has expanded its international doctoral scholarship opportunities through partnerships with foreign institutions.

In late August 2026, the National Research and Development Agency (ANID) and the Fulbright Commission opened applications for the BIO Fulbright-ANID Doctoral Scholarships. This program enables Chilean citizens to pursue doctoral studies in the United States, with a specific focus on social mobility. To qualify, applicants must meet certain socioeconomic criteria, such as having attended state-subsidized high schools or having financed undergraduate studies through loans. The program also includes a one-year English language leveling course.

Following this, the Chilean Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation partnered with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to launch the ANID-DAAD Doctoral Scholarship program. This initiative funds doctoral studies in Germany, with the Chilean Ministry covering tuition and living expenses while the DAAD provides health insurance and German language training. The program is intended to strengthen scientific and technological capabilities through international academic excellence.
