Chilivani massacre commemoration

Overview

In Perde Sèmene, near Ozieri, authorities and families gathered to mark the 31st anniversary of the Chilivani massacre. The ceremony honored Carabinieri Ciriaco Carru and Walter Frau, who were killed on August 16, 1995, during a firefight with a criminal gang while attempting to prevent an assault on an armored cash van.

Both officers were recipients of the Gold Medal for Military Valor. Local officials, including the Deputy Mayor of Ozieri and the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri, Colonel Antonio Maione, participated in the event, where floral tributes were laid at memorial plaques to honor the officers.
