China international media cooperation forums
Overview
China hosted a series of international media events in early November 2026 focused on the Belt and Road Initiative and emerging technologies.
The Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road took place in Fuzhou on November 3. Organized by People’s Daily and the Fujian provincial government, the forum gathered over 200 delegates from approximately 100 countries. Discussions centered on using media to facilitate political dialogue and communicate development opportunities. A primary outcome was the adoption of the “Belt and Road Media Cooperation: Fuzhou Initiative,” which promotes cooperation in areas such as content collaboration, technological change, and building consensus.
Following the Fuzhou event, the 7th World Media Summit was scheduled to be held in Beijing from November 5 to 9. This summit, organized by Xinhua News Agency and the Beijing Municipal People's Government, aimed to address the transformation of global media through artificial intelligence and global communication governance.
