Overview
In late June 2026 Orient Cable delivered a 66 kV dynamic subsea cable for the 16 MW Sanxia Linghang floating‑wind demonstration platform, the first such cable in China. In July 2026 China Three Gorges launched a world‑record ±500 kV offshore DC converter station, dubbed “sea heart”, about 100 km off Yangjiang, connected by an 88.8 km flexible‑current cable and a 180 km on‑shore line, projected to supply roughly 60 billion kWh of clean power annually to the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macau Greater Bay Area. By 29 July 2026 the facility—now referred to as the “Heart of Offshore Wind”—entered its final submarine‑cable linking and joint testing phase. The 2‑GW, 500‑kV station will collect electricity from 163 offshore turbines, convert 66 kV AC to 500 kV DC, and is expected to deliver about six terawatt‑hours of renewable electricity each year, cementing China’s high‑capacity deep‑sea transmission roadmap.
