China-Spain municipal cooperation dialogue

A delegation of approximately 20 Spanish mayors and institutional representatives participated in the II China-Spain Mayors Dialogue in China from August 25 to September 1. The program, organized by the China Chair Foundation and the China People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, sought to strengthen ties between local administrations in areas such as innovation, sustainability, urban development, culture, and tourism.

The delegation visited several cities, including Beijing, Yantai, Yangzhou, and Shanghai. Key activities included technical tours of urban projects, such as the Tianning No. 1 Zero Carbon Smart Park, and meetings with various authorities and companies.

By the conclusion of the visit, participants like the Mayor of Puertollano had engaged in meetings with the Vice Minister responsible for the General Directorate for Western European Affairs. The agenda focused on industrial transformation, energy transition, and smart city development, with leaders aiming to use the established contacts to foster future international collaboration and knowledge exchange.
