Christopher Nolan's Odyssey film production

The production of Christopher Nolan’s epic film “The Odyssey” (also referred to as “Odissea”) assembled an international crew across several months of location shooting.

Stunt performer Simone “Sinck” Moncada, an Italian‑born artist who trained in London, was recruited for the film’s sea‑voyage and battle sequences. Over four months he worked on locations in Greece, the Egadi and Aeolian Islands, and Scotland, describing the project as the most important of his career and noting Nolan’s influence on his perception of stunt work.

Makeup artist Pamela Lucarini, originally from Lucca, Italy, returned from Australia to join the same production. Initially offered a one‑day assignment in Greece, her role expanded into a months‑long engagement from February to June, covering shoots on Greek islands, Iceland, Favignana and Lipari. She performed extensive prosthetic and makeup work, including creating a cyclops look and removing tattoos from armor, while collaborating with actors such as Matt Damon and observing the blend of practical effects with digital enhancement.

Both crew members highlight the demanding schedule—long shifts of 10–14 hours—and the international scope of Nolan’s film, marking significant milestones in their respective careers.
