Ciudad Juárez municipal administration priorities

Overview

Mayor Héctor Rafael Ortiz Orpinel has outlined several key focus areas for the Ciudad Juárez municipal administration. Regarding public services, the mayor announced plans to regularize garbage collection services through existing concessionaire contracts, specifically noting that the city will not purchase additional vehicles but will withhold payments if companies fail to meet tonnage requirements.

For the 2027 fiscal year, the administration intends to prioritize infrastructure projects, including the completion of Parque Poniente, the Centro Comunitario México Imparable, and a new municipal slaughterhouse.

Additionally, the administration is reviewing the status of security gates in residential subdivisions. While the mayor noted that public opinion is divided on whether to remove these structures to improve mobility, he stated that removing the gates is not currently a priority and that the city is awaiting formal proposals to balance citizen security with urban movement.
