CNAIR infrastructure management in Romania

Overview

The National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) is managing both internal investigations into material losses and new infrastructure projects.

Investigations have been launched following the disappearance of significant quantities of construction materials. In the Murgeni District, an inventory by the Iași Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges (DRDP Iași) identified a shortage of approximately 595.77 tons of crushed stone and riprap, valued at roughly 145,000 lei. Additionally, a larger investigation is addressing the loss of 8,000 tons of ballast in Vaslui County, valued at over 1.2 million lei. One employee has been detained in connection with the Vaslui case, and the road workers’ union has called for the dismissal of the General Director of DRDP Iași amid allegations of administrative connections to the incident.

Concurrently, CNAIR has initiated a public procurement procedure for a new bridge project on DN 24C in Manoleasa, Botoșani County. The project, estimated at approximately 5.89 million lei, includes both the design and construction of a bridge over an unmapped watercourse.
