Coastal environmental cleaning campaigns in Spain

Environmental protection and cleaning initiatives have been launched across various coastal and natural sites in Spain to combat waste accumulation and raise awareness.

In Almerimar, the ‘Tu playa limpia’ (Your clean beach) campaign was initiated at Playa de Levante by Avanza en Verde and the El Ejido City Council. The six-day program utilizes environmental educators and interactive sessions, such as ‘SuperRecicladores’, to teach waste classification and demonstrate the impact of litter on marine ecosystems.

In other regions, activist-led and community efforts are also targeting waste. In Cádiz, cleaning sessions have been organized to address litter in sensitive areas like Punta de San Felipe and Santa María del Mar beach, with a focus on preventing waste from entering river systems. Meanwhile, the ‘Almonte Limpio’ campaign near the Doñana protected environment resulted in the removal of approximately 40 kilograms of waste, including 5,200 cigarette butts, through the coordinated efforts of local participants and environmental organizations.
