Coldenham Firehouse Blaze in New York

In late July 2026 a fire broke out at the Coldenham Fire Department station in the Town of Montgomery, New York. The blaze damaged the firehouse and several fire trucks but, according to the first report on July 27, caused no injuries. The incident was noted alongside an unrelated house fire in Pleasantville, New Jersey.

Two days later, on July 29, additional details emerged. The fire had ignited in the early hours, fully engulfing the garage bays and destroying multiple fire apparatus stored inside. Five firefighters were injured while attempting to save the equipment. Fire Chief Matthew Hunt described the loss as “beyond heartbroken.” Mutual‑aid resources were activated to maintain fire‑protection coverage, and the community rallied to provide food and other support as the station began rebuilding efforts.
