Overview

Colombia’s General Maritime Directorate (DIMAR) has highlighted its extensive management of maritime, fluvial, and coastal activities during its 74th anniversary. The agency’s recent operations include the adjudication of offshore wind energy permits, the granting of maritime concessions for industrial and tourism projects, and the launch of new technological platforms for maritime transit information and climatic forecasting.

Building on these administrative and technological developments, DIMAR has also focused on maritime safety infrastructure. The agency’s Pacific Maritime Signaling division completed the installation and maintenance of 33 navigation aids, including lighthouses and buoys, across the departments of Cauca, Chocó, Nariño, and Valle del Cauca to improve safety along the Pacific coast.
