Colombian maritime drug interdictions

Overview

Colombian authorities have conducted significant cocaine seizures in maritime and port environments. On October 20, 2026, the National Police and the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, with support from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, seized 7.6 tons of cocaine at the port of Cartagena. The shipment was concealed within a container mixed with powdered panela to evade detection.

Following this, on October 31, 2026, the Colombian National Navy and the United States Southern Task Force intercepted two Go Fast vessels in Caribbean waters. Authorities recovered 2,001 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride after traffickers reportedly threw several packages into the sea to evade detection. Coast Guard personnel successfully recovered 80 bundles containing 2,000 packages. Five individuals were captured during the operation. President Abelardo De La Espriella noted the seizure represented a loss of over 92 million dollars for criminal organizations and prevented more than five million doses of cocaine from reaching the streets.
